Controller – Luxury Automotive Dealership (Nassau County, NY)

 

A well-established, high-volume luxury automotive dealership group serving Nassau County is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting operations at one of its premier locations.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an automotive finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about financial accuracy, operational excellence, and team leadership.

As Controller, you will oversee all dealership accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting while maintaining compliance with company policies, manufacturer requirements, and industry standards. You will lead and mentor the accounting team, manage day-to-day financial operations, and provide strategic financial insights to support business performance and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and coordinate the monthly 5-day financial close
  • Review account reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger activity
  • Supervise accounting staff, including AP, AR, payroll, deal billing, and title clerks
  • Oversee deal processing accuracy and DMV/title compliance
  • Monitor vendor payments, receivables, and aging schedules
  • Assist with inventory reconciliations and fixed asset tracking
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, GAAP standards, and company policies
  • Support audit preparation and operational improvements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Knowledge of GAAP and dealership accounting practices
  • Experience supervising accounting or administrative staff
  • Close attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with DMS systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Exceptional communication and time management abilities
  • CDK experience is preferred but not mandatory

Performance Expectation

  • Complete the month-end close within 5 business days
  • Maintain accurate reconciliations and financial records
  • Ensure timely and accurate deal posting and title processing
  • Support efficient departmental operations and compliance standards

Experience

  • Finance/Accounting: 5 years (Required)
  • Automotive Accounting: 2 years (Required)
