Aiutomotive Controller

 

South Shore Nassau County Dealer located in Valley Stream, NY  is seeking to hire a Controller.

If you are an Automotive Bookkeeper with over 5 years experience and would like to take a step up you need to apply as well!

Job Requirements:

  • Member of Senior Management team reporting to Ownership, including General Manager.
  • Day-to-day hands-on management of individual store financial conditions
  • Manage and account for check/ cash/ and credit deposits
  • Reconcile all deal jackets. Handle Payroll which includes all vendors/ 1099/ commissioned individuals.
  • Prepare a complete financial statement monthly according to dealership guidelines and CPA requirements. Coordinate accounting with our CPA.
  • Manage all open Floor plan payoffs and curtailments.
  • Interpret the financial statement and the daily operating control (DOC) regularly and inform Executive team of developing trends.
  • Participate in the preparation of short- and long-term financial forecasts for the dealership.
  • Provide department managers with detailed financial and management reports.
  • Maintain an effective cash management system that forecasts cash funds and makes recommendations for the profitable use of excess cash.
  • Direct assessment of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
  • Reviews the general ledger and scheduled accounts. Notes any unusual entries and investigates.
  • Review the reconciliation of general ledger accounts with outside sources to ensure proper bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, factory payable and floor plan payable.
  • Stay abreast of tax code revisions and advises dealer regarding any operational adjustments needed to accommodate revisions.
  • Stay abreast with all human resources regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable government finance regulations, including filing and/or maintaining of required forms, payroll taxes and deposits, income taxes, retirement plan records etc.
  • Manage the dealership Dealer Management System system to maximize utilization.
  • Administer a loss review program and maintains loss reserves for contingent liabilities and trade receivables.
  • Meet with dealer to evaluate all insurance renewals.
  • Prepare and processes all insurance claims.
  • Coordinates annual audit (or review) and physical inventory.
  • Ensures that all office personnel are using proper accounting procedures and maintaining accurate records and analyses and supervises the preparation of all information for the CPA to minimize audit or review costs.
  • Continually strive to improve data integrity and information reporting.
  • Attend managers meetings.
  • Oversee accounting team, including accounts payable clerks and office manager, as well as DMV/titling team
  • Intelligent, positive attitude, and autonomous/entreprenurial spirit

Job Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Controller/ Assistant Controller in retail automotive
  • DMS System knowledge preferred – DealerTrack Arkona / DMS360
  • CPA background a plus but not mandatory
  • Experience managing a team
  • Strong work ethic and professional demeanor
