Service Manager
Bird Bus Sales, located at 202 Terminal Drive, Plainview, NY, is seeking to hire a Service Manager.
Job Summary:
You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the service department at their respective location. This includes supervising service staff, scheduling and workflow, customer communications, and ensuring quality repairs and maintenance are delivered efficiently and safely. You will also be assessing the planning, coordination, and control of all Service-related processes, playing a key role in driving productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction. It is your job to ensure all employees have the necessary information required to perform their roles within the service department.
The Service Manager is the buffer between the customer and the technicians, and you must interact with customers, perform in a professional manner, and always present a professional image. You must be a highly motivated self-starter who has a passion for the bus industry field. You must be able to adapt to unique and complex challenges that require persistence, original thinking, and a positive attitude.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Service Department and ensure they have all the required resources that are needed to carry out day-to-day operations.
- You will ensure that all members of your team are trained and can carry out their assigned duties and uphold the highest customer satisfaction that is required by Bird Bus Sales
- Develop and execute short and long-term strategies for Service operations
- Follow the in-house processes and assist in the creation and improvement of company-wide directives by documenting processes, along with creating a self-auditing process to ensure your location is maintaining the standards set forth
- Lead, mentor, and manage department staff to ensure high performance and professional growth, and ensure alignment with overall dealership goals and standards
- Ensure all employees are following the guidelines with time and attendance, and document any discrepancies that might arise
- You must evaluate an employee’s talent and assign work accordingly
- Ensure all training plans are followed and updated as needed.
- Follow OSHA’s guidelines in accordance with Egress Routes, Lock Out, Tag Out, OSHA Self Audits, Eye Wash Stations, First Aid Kits, Forklift Certifications, Storage of Flammables, etc
- You will develop logs and accountability on these items, but not limited to these
- You will ensure the Service Department is a Safe Working Environment for all employees.
- As customers arrive at your location, you will ensure the RO’s are written in a timely manner to expedite the customers’ turnaround time
- Communication with customers will be updated daily on the status of their vehicle to ensure we provide great communication and customer service
Qualifications:
- AA required, in a Business or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in the transportation or truck equipment industry is a must
- As such, the ideal candidate would have a strong background in Leadership and Time Management Skills
- You must also be experienced in MS Office applications and have strong Excel skills
- A positive attitude is required from a focused individual who desires to be the best and learn something new each day
